Couples Counseling
Are you ready to shift unhealthy patterns and reconnect more deeply with your partner? Many couples come to therapy feeling lonely or disconnected, feeling that this isn't what they expected from their relationship. Major transitions, unresolved wounds, repeated conflict, or changes in identity can make it difficult to feel understood and emotionally close.
One or both partners may carry guilt about not being the spouse or partner they hoped to be, while still sensing that something important but undefined is missing.
Couples therapy offers space to understand the patterns shaping your relationship, process the experiences beneath them, and begin creating a more secure, intentional connection.
My Approach
I help couples connect on a deeper level. I provide a blend of insight and skills based approaches, but don’t prefer to rely on worksheets or checklists to guide your journey. Insight helps us see why a relationship is compromised, and skills give us the tools to fix it. My approach is eclectic but includes Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Intimacy from the Inside Out, Gottman method, and psychodynamic and experiential strategies to help clients identify core emotions, and share those feelings with those they love. My work is experiential, which means building insight in session through writing, art making, metaphor and imagery. When appropriate I provide couples the opportunities to process past hurts and trauma together to increase attunement and intimacy. I believe in the importance of relationships, social justice, context and community. I am enthusiastically LGBTQ+ affirming and love working with families of all shapes, sizes, and cultural dynamics. I believe that attachment and relationships are the most important part of our lives, and it's my honor to facilitate those connections for others.
