What is Art therapy?

Art therapy is a type of psychodynamic therapy that blends art making with traditional talk therapy. Art therapists are specifically trained to choose and utilize a variety of art materials, directives and methods that are tailored to help facilitate a client’s specific goals.

My Approach

I am a creative minded, person centered, systemically trained therapist. I believe in the importance of relationships, social justice, context and community. I use a blend of experiential directives with insight based and attachment lens theories including Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Jungian imagery to help clients deeply engage with themselves. I love working with metaphor, imagery, dreams and imagination.

Why Choose
Art Therapy?

Sometimes when our words fail, an image can help us evoke and process underlying emotions and difficulties.

It can feel threatening to talk about past trauma and pain, but the creative process can create a backdoor to access and overcome these challenges.

Art therapy is specifically beneficial for those who feel like traditional therapy “won’t work” for them, or those who want to process trauma or pain through imagery instead of words. Art therapy is accessible to artists and non-artists alike.
