What is Art therapy?

Art therapy is a type of psychodynamic therapy that blends art making with traditional talk therapy. Art therapists are specifically trained to choose and utilize a variety of art materials, directives and methods that are tailored to help facilitate a client’s specific goals.

Why Choose
Art Therapy?

A picture is worth a thousand words, and making art can elicit a thousand emotions.  Sometimes when our words fail, an image can help us evoke and process underlying emotions and difficulties.

It can feel threatening to talk about past trauma and difficulties, but the creative process can create a backdoor to access and overcome these challenges.

Art therapy can also be used for assessment purposes, to measure markers of our mental health and even cognitive development. Art therapists are uniquely trained to use art making, play, and talk therapy to help our clients.
